Do you really want to maximize your trip to Iceland? If you’re ready for a sightseeing tour for small groups right after landing, then join us as we explore the geothermal wonders of the Reykjanes Peninsula. We pick you up at the airport, and drop you off at your hotel in Reykjavík.
Despite of being so close to the capital and the airport, the Reykjanes Peninsula is not one of the most visited tourist sites. However, it boasts amazing hot springs, rugged coastline, and pristine lakes. Are you coming?
One of our first stops will be the Bridge Between Continents. It’s above a fissure between two diverging tectonic plates. Here your guide will tell you why this place holds the key to Iceland’s creation.
We will see a very unique lava field called Stamparhraun as we head to the cliffs of Reykjanestá. This is a very photogenic location with sea stacks. Please dress warmly as it might be quite windy there.
We will visit Geothermal area, Gunnuhver or Krýsuvík*. Yes, it is boiling for real. The Earth’s crust under our feet is very thin. Weak earthquakes are common, so don’t be surprised if you feel a tremor.
During the tour we will make a stop for lunch (not included in the tour price) and allow you time to fully enjoy the beauty of these stunning features of nature.
Lake Kleifarvatn is a truly scenic location. Its calmness offers a contrast with the wild ocean and cliffs that we have seen earlier today. Since this place is in a way a little remote, we’ll need to drive on dirt roads for a while.* When in Reykjavik, we’ll give you a brief city tour before dropping you off at your hotel.
